Hello All,
Training will remain by appointment only, probably through the end of this year. Normally we would resume our children's classes at the end of September, and I'm sure students and parents have been looking forward to this. I certainly miss the children's classes, but we have to stay cautious. Once school starts I will monitor reported cases and determine when it's safe to continue gradually reopening. Nantucket's positive testing rate is currently below 1%. I have decided to add this as a guideline for each step of reopening. As long as the positive testing rate stays below 1% for at least 4 weeks, reopening will continue. The exception to this will be the final step of fully reopening, which still requires 2 weeks of no new cases reported. See below for a tentative timeline.
September 21: Kindergarten/Pre-K resume (September 16 for grades 1-12). All training is 1-on-1, or 2 from the same household.
October 19: Sessions can have 2 students who are not from the same household. These students will partner for the entire session. I will not be an active training partner in this case.
November 16: 3 people can train. Vulnerable individuals may return to training, but they must bring their own training partner.
December 14: Up to 8 people can train together.
January 11: (Requires at least 2 weeks of no new reported cases). Normal class schedule resumes and all are welcome, including first responders and healthcare workers. Individuals who wish to continue personal training will be able to do so.
Wishing you health and happiness, Jules Embry-Pelrine Founder, Nantucket Martial Arts Alliance
